At Unity school, we believe that teaching good values is just as important as teaching Maths, English, or Science. We want our students to grow into not only smart but also kind, respectful, and responsible people—at school, at home, and in the community. Here is how we do it:

1. Learning Through Daily Lessons
We don’t just talk about values—we include them in what we teach every day. For example, when reading stories in class, we talk about how the characters show kindness or respect – were they respectful? Were they kind? We use group work at Unity School to encourage these values. Students learn to listen to each other, share tasks, and support one another. These experiences help build empathy, patience, and accountability in a natural way.
2. Teachers as Role Models
At Unity School, our teachers are more than just educators—they are mentors and role models. Children learn best by watching the people around them, so we make sure that our staff consistently model the behavior we want to see in our students. Whether it’s greeting students warmly each morning, handling conflicts calmly, or taking responsibility for a mistake, teachers show students what it looks like to live out these values.
We also use positive reinforcement. When a student is seen helping a classmate or showing respect to a staff member, we acknowledge it—sometimes with a simple “well done,” a sticker, or even a shoutout during assembly. Small acts of recognition help students feel proud and encourage others to follow their example
3. School Programs and Activities at Unity School
We have regular sessions where students talk about real-life situations—like how to handle disagreements peacefully or why it’s important to help others. Older students also mentor younger ones, helping them with schoolwork and guiding them on good behavior. We walk hand in hand with the children to root out bad behaviour and encourage positive character.
4. Clear Rules and Fair Discipline
We keep our rules simple and grounded in our three values. Students are expected to be kind to others, show respect to everyone, and take responsibility for their actions. When rules are broken, we don’t just punish—we take time to help the student understand the impact of their behavior and think about how to make things right. This could mean writing an apology, having a one-on-one conversation, or doing something helpful for the class.
5. Parental involvement
We know that parents play a big role in shaping a child’s character, so we work closely with families to support moral growth at home and in school. We involve parents through:
- Regular communication – We send updates on what values we’re focusing on each term, so parents can continue the conversations at home.
- Parent meetings – These sessions offer tips on how to guide children in handling peer pressure and behavioural changes, managing screen time responsibly, and showing respect at home.
- Family activities – We invite parents to take part in school events to show students the value of teamwork and giving back.
- Open-door policy – At Unity School we encourage parents to talk with teachers regularly, not just about academics, but also about their child’s behavior, friendships, and emotional well-being.
When schools and parents work together, children get a stronger, clearer message about what truly matters—and that’s how we build a better future for them and for our country. Together, we excel.
